Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs In The Oven
We love this cooking method because you can hard boil so many eggs at once without worrying about over crowding a pot of boiling water. Oven hard boiled eggs are a kitchen staple to be used as a quick breakfast, to wow a crowd with classic deviled eggs, or to be used in our fun deviled potato egg salad recipe.
What You Will Need
- eggs – A dozen will do.
- muffin tin liners – These give the egg shell just the right amount of protection to keep from getting scorched during the cooking process.
How To Hard Boil Eggs In The Oven
Start by preheating your oven to 325°F. Next, take your eggs out of the fridge and check that they’re crack free. We tested this process using eggs that came right out of the fridge, so no need to bring them to room temperature.
Next, place liners in your muffin tin and carefully place one egg in each muffin liner, until all the liners are full. Place the muffin tin in the middle rack of your oven and let them cook for 30-32 minutes.
Once the eggs are done cooking, remove the muffin tray from the oven and carefully transfer the eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process, cool down the eggs, and to make peeling easier. Cooking hard boiled eggs in the oven might result in a few small brown spots on your eggs after cooking. These easily come off when rubbed with water.
Lastly, peel and enjoy immediately with a little salt or prep them for your favorite egg recipe or our delicious Creamy Egg Salad. Store your extra hard boiled eggs in the refrigerator for up the 7 days.
A Simple Method To Peel Eggs
Gently tap or roll your hard boiled eggs on a hard surface and use the edge of your thumb to gently peel the shell up and away from the egg white. Feel free to rinse the peeled eggs to remove any debris that may have gotten stuck to the surface during the peeling process.
Recipe FAQs
- eggs – We tested this recipe with eggs right out of the refrigerator, so there’s no need to bring them to room temperature first.
- Brown Spots: We used muffin tin liners that reduced the amount of brown spots, but using a silicone liner may be preferred to keep your eggs spot free. The few brown spots we did have rubbed off with water.
- Storage: Store peeled or peel-on hard boiled eggs in an airtight container in the refigerator for up to 7 days.
